Miscellaneous….whatever day this is

So, we’ve been on an unscheduled blog hiatus lately.  Why?  Because Baby Michel 2.0 decided to make her debut early! That lovely condition I’ve been dealing with all thru this pregnancy reared it’s ugly head and sent me to the hospital with two significant bleeds in the space of a few days, scared our doctors, and before we knew it, we were in an operating room saying hello to our little 34 week peanut.

I’ll put together a blog post all about little Miss Waylynn’s dramatic debut soon….I swear.  She’s already two weeks old, but we’ve only been home a week from the hospital.  Everyone is doing really well, and we are still adjusting to our new lives as a family of four.

The biggest adjustment with bringing home a newborn this time?  It isn’t the constant feeding and diapers.  It’s that I have gone from a person with a life threatening medical condition who was watched constantly and had to be hyper vigilant with all my activities, to someone who can wash dishes, walk long distances, even drive my car.  No one watches me like a hawk, tells me to sit-down, or admonishes me for doing too much.  Seriously, it’s taken me several days to wrap my head around the idea that I am now “normal” again.   It’s mind-boggling how the coin can flip on such a condition.  Even Baby Girl (who I suppose needs a new moniker now) says to me “Mama, you can walk?” – she got used to my restrictions too.

I missed out on a lot of things with this pregnancy and it’s complications – including Halloween.  But, Hubby and everyone else face-timed and video-ed and took pictures so I could see all the fun from my hospital room.  Baby Girl stole the cuteness as Bucky Badger in a custom costume I made for her – finishing it up from the hospital of course.

I saw actual snow today outside.  Not sure how I feel about that, or if I’m ready.  I went into the hospital at peak color for fall, and when I came out – all the leaves were gone.  Now it’s snowing already?  At least it didn’t stick.

Before the last trip to the hospital, I had a chance to check out Onesto in the Third Ward for my mother-in-law’s birthday.  It was quite lovely.  The service was excellent, the food was very yummy and even Baby Girl had an excellent time.  Thumbs up!

So, most of life is about babies and hospital stays lately, and I won’t bore you with all of that.  Have a great week (what’s left of it)!
