Does anyone have time for a nap today?  I could sure use one, but my schedule is packed tighter than a sardine can.  Well, I think it is – not caring much for sardines, I don’t think I’ve ever opened a can of them.

Abby & Greg’s wedding on Saturday (9-10-11!) was everything I hoped it would be.  So fun and casual, full of genuine, heartfelt moments and homespun details.  Gourmet marshmallows (for ‘smores of course), a bonfire, cornfields, seven vintage corvettes, gorgeous weather, a wedding dress with pockets, a dad who is also the minister, the cutest little wedding party you’ve ever seen, I could go on and on.  So much fun!

This coming weekend I’m off to Ames, Iowa for Ashley and Tom’s wedding.  I can’t wait to see Tom’s Hamptons-area family transported to Iowa, and to see Ashley bring all of her New York chic style to the little college town she hails from.

On Sunday Hubby and I ventured up to Madison to watch our cousins, Craig and Johanna compete in the Ironman Wisconsin triathalon.  I’ve seen them compete before at the half-Ironman, but wow – this all day (literally) event is just so inspiring.  140 miles of swimming, biking and running.  Wow!  We got to see each of them at several points on the course, and we could track their progress online as well.  It was fun to see them go up and down in ability and drive throughout the day, and then come barreling thru the finish line with joy and accomplishment.  And, they finished just 15 placings apart!  Craig finished the race in 12 hours and 39 minutes, and Johanna came in right behind him with 12 hours and 41 minutes.  Johanna has done a few of these full Ironman races before, but this was Craig’s first one.  Super proud of them both!

One thing is for sure – watching the Ironman made anything I did in the gym today seem easy!

A pal of mine was also at the Ironman cheering on her sister-in-law’s boyfriend, and captured a finish line proposal from him to her on video!  How cool is that?!?  I can just imagine he spent most of those 26 miles running thinking “I’m one step closer to proposing!”  Awesome motivation, for sure.  What a tremendous day for them.  Marissa and Eric – give me a call!

So Hubby’s favorite show (well, one of them), Entourage, came to a close last night.  (Okay, I’m a fan too)  I thought it was a nice wrap up of the series, especially after a season of disappointing episodes.  He has mixed feelings about it.  Regardless, it was fun to spot Barry Alvarez in there, with some well delivered lines too!  Not sure about that movie-setup after the credits though….

September 11….I don’t really think there is anything I can add to what has already been said about it.  I hope you took time to recognize this day, but also to reclaim it.  We have two birthdays in the family surrounding that date – Hubby’s sister Karen on the 11th, and my cousin Chris today.  Happy Cake and Candles Day to you both!

Well, I better get to all those things on today’s to-do list that mean no nap for me!  Have a great week!
