Miscellaneous Monday
Big CONGRATS to my cousins Craig and Johanna, and my uncle Rod for completing the Ironman 70.3 yesterday in Racine. It was blazingly hot and humid and yet they somehow still swam, biked and ran their way to successful finished for all. It was inspiring to see them compete and power thru all of the challenges.

We are in for a hot one this week – with heat indexes as high as 125. Be smart people – stay inside, don’t over do it, and let the yard work wait until next week!

Hubby and I went to see the final Harry Potter movie this weekend. Admittedly, I’m a much bigger fan than Hubby is, but he indulges my geekdom with these movies. If only they hadn’t played a preview for The Dark Knight before the film started – he might not have been so distracted. Anyway, the film was great, a true pay-off for this series. As a side note, we purposely saw it in 2-D, as gratuitous 3-D movies drive us nuts. I’ve heard the only sequence worth the 3-D is the bank vault anyway.

County Fair starts for me this week. I’ve been a superintendent with the Racine County Fair, for well, let’s just say a long time. This weekend starts entry take-in and judging for us volunteers and participants, and then next Wednesday the fun really kicks in. It’s truly one of the state’s best county fairs, check it out!

It’s fair season around here in general – and I’ll be out at State Fair this week helping judge their photography and arts & crafts entries. I can’t wait!

There have been some truly incredible inquiries for weddings next year coming in. I’m so excited about the plans I’m hearing about! Farms, sculpture gardens, private homes, fields, lakefront venues, far and distant cities….This is always an exciting time of year – seeing the next year start to take shape and wondering what else it might have in store for us!

I’ve been searching for some yummy recipes involving ground turkey – got anything to share?

Have a great week!
