Miscellaneous Monday
Where to even start?
—
The Racine County Fair was this last week, and it occupied pretty much every spare minute we had in some form or another. I’m afraid most of today’s post will be about the fair.

Hubby put the finishing touches on his Demolition Derby Car, but he was disqualified in his heat because it caught on fire. Our friend Paul won his heat though and made it to the finals. He didn’t win, but he had an expert and strong showing, as always. Our cousin Danno won the mid-size car finals and a not so mid-size trophy! Congrats to Danno! Everyone survived unscathed and uninjured (well, except for a jammed finger on Paul).

Hubby’s (and our) group of friends seems to reunite every year for the Demo, so I got to catch up with all of the wives and babies as well. They are all so big and have grown so much, it is just amazing.

Our nephew Ethan made it out the fair three times this week – a pretty good showing for being only six weeks old. He loved it, I have to say. There was so much to look at and smile at. It was so fun walking around with him, even if he couldn’t really react to what was happening.

I’ll try to get some pictures edited and blogged from the fair later this week. I wasn’t too snap happy since we’ve been burning the candle at both ends around here for weeks, and I shot a wedding all day Saturday, but there are a few.

I’ve been having issues with my Aperture 3 software for weeks. That is my primary editing software for photos and in all respects outside of my issues – it totally rocks. I’ve been on the phone with Apple Support so much that I have my case number memorized. They finally reached a verdict on my problem (Slower than molasses performance and a host of other annoyances) – they think my specific hardware configuration (mostly the graphics card) doesn’t agree with Aperture 3. They are “working on it” and will “get back to me”. You know I usually praise Apple, but I am more than frustrated with this response. This is a Pro Application, and the issue should be a high priority in my opinion. If I had the time to learn a new program and switch, I just might. But I don’t. I’m blogging about it here in case there are any other photographers with the same issues, or who are thinking of upgrading to Aperture 3 – I’ll be happy to compare my hardware configuration with you first.

A few weeks back, a fellow blogger recognized me at a wedding and took the time to say hi. Tracy, I just wanted to acknowledge this sweet gesture. Thank you so much for taking the time to chat. It was awesome to meet you in person after following your adventures on your blog for so long. And get back to blogging! I miss your frugal tips and stories.

August? Already? Really? Seriously, how did this happen? I’m so frustrated that the summer is almost over again, and we’ve hardly enjoyed it. I tried so hard in the off-season to set us up so that we could have time to appreciate summer in any form, and I feel like I have failed big time with that. There is little that frustrates me more than the march of time, the lack of more of it, and realizing it’s already too late for something.

I got a few canvases hung up in the studio last week, and now I only have one wall left to finish. It was really awesome to see my images big and on the walls – the space is really coming to life.

Hubby and I were looking at the calendar this morning and there is some travel in our future this fall. I will for sure be in New York, Minneapolis, Door County and Nashville. Hopefully Hubby will be with me. If you would like to meet up while I’m in your area, or schedule a session – please email me!

The Brewers signed Corey Hart! Woot! Awesome Sauce!

Well, there is much to catch up on thanks to our county fair derailment last week – gotta go. Have a great one!
