It snowed here this last weekend! It has snowed every December 1st since we moved into this house (we closed on Nov. 30, spent the night in our new home and woke up to feet of snow!). This year the 1st was just flurries, but this past Saturday we got inches. I love the snow. If it has to be cold, it might as well be beautiful too.

I spent my weekend in Chicago, with some of my favorite girlfriends – five of the ladies I met at the Italy Workshop. We’ve been having reunions of different sizes since we met, and it is always fun. We threw together a photoshoot for Saturday, and were blessed by softly falling snow all day. It was gorgeous. A serious thank you to our models who shivered for an hour and a half in the snow. The rest of our weekend was spent drinking wine, telling stories, laughing and eating awesome food. Girls, I already miss you!

Speaking of this weekend’s photoshoot, I’ll be sharing photos of it soon, but it will have to wait, because we all shot exclusively on film. We didn’t even bring our digital cameras. Before you think I’m jumping on the “film is cool” bandwagon, know that film is how I was trained. In fact, until I became a wedding photographer, I hadn’t even used a digital camera of quality. Even in graduate school, I shot all of my animated films on film, and even hand-developed them. Why it never occurred to me to be a film photographer professionally, I’ll never know, but my almost ten year break from it has been broken. I had a blast breaking out my very first 35mm film camera and loading it up with film again. I also rented a Contax 645 so that I could shoot some medium format as well. It didn’t take long for me to get back in the groove. I have to say, I really loved it, and if the results are as I suspect, I think there will be a lot more film in my future.

How funny was the inclusion of Martha Stewart in the The Simpsons last night? Hilarious!

The Boardwalk Empire season finale was fantastic. I loved the foreshadowing.

The girls and I finally watched Eat, Pray, Love this past weekend. Even though I fell asleep about 3/4 of the way thru the Bali section (not from boredom, but pure exhaustion), I have to say I am disappointed. There was a lot of depth missing from the movie. A lot. I don’t know that you really got the full affect of the story if you haven’t read the book. There were several really pivotal plot points that were just glossed over at best.

The Badgers are officially going to the Rose Bowl! This is soooo exciting! I remember the last time they went – I was just a little kid, and my cousins got to go to the game. I wish we could go, but Hubby’s work schedule will not allow a trip to Cali on New Year’s. It’s times like this I wish I went to Madison, and not to a smaller school. They have such an awesome spirt of community and school spirit there.

{Edit: Blog reader Amy pointed out to me that the Badgers went to the Rose Bowl in 2000 also, and while I wish I was a young thing then, I wasn’t.  So my memory is a little foggy in this area.  I’m only a part-time sports fan at best.  Anyway, just wanted to add this in so that you don’t think I’m a teenager, or a dunce.}

My friend Amanda had her baby last week, and I have to admit, I’m a little excited that she named her Molly! I love my name. I don’t care to see it become super popular or even a little popular, but I do enjoy it when others appreciate it too. Congrats to Amanda and family on the arrival of their sweet baby girl!

That’s all I’ve got for today. It’s a busy week with client meetings and Boudoir shoots, so I’d better get to work.

Have a great week!

    Hi Molly–huge Badger fan (and mthree studio fan!) here and I hate to break it to you but the last time the Badgers went to the Rose Bowl was in the year 2000 (1999 football season). I don’t think you’re that old but something tells me you weren’t a little kid then either! 🙂 I am a UW-Madison alum and I agree–best school spirit ever!

    Thanks for the correction Amy! That would have been my senior year of college – so I’m guessing I was too wrapped up in a thesis project to notice. :0)

    Thank you for the shout out! Although the credit for Molly’s name has to go to my husband, I love it too! : )
