I shot the first of many Boudoir sessions this morning in my studio.  (First studio session, not my first Boudoir session) If I do say so myself, the results are gorgeous.  And, we had so much fun!  It was a great start to the day, and the week.

Much of the last week was spent getting the studio in tip-top shape for Boudoir.  I am rather proud of myself for making curtains and a duvet cover,  and coming up with some very studio appropriate curtain rods – made out of plumbing supplies.  Mucho thanks to my Dad and Brother, who spent hours installing all of the hardware and helping me haul things up into the studio.

Can anyone believe it is Thanksgiving this week?  It’s just a slippery slope now until the end of the year.  Wow.

Hubby was gone most of last week for meetings at his corporate headquarters, and then deer hunting.  It continues to amaze me, that despite having spent 5 years in a long distance relationship with him, where we didn’t see each other for months – he can be gone for four days and I’m missing him terribly.  He may have come home with another cold, but I’m happy to have him home anyway.

No deer for Hubby this year.  :0(

But our friend Paul shot a huge 8 point buck.  I’ve only seen a cell phone shot, but it was quite impressive.

Last week my pal Jamie and I made it to our “F” restaurant (we are making our way thru the alphabet) and tried out Firefly in Wauwatosa.  People, this is a hidden gem! It is so beautifully appointed – with this great mix of furnishings and decorations – rustic and urban loft like with a little french provencial thrown in.  And, the food was fantastic!  The drinks were super yummy too.  The best part was tableside ‘smores.  Yum!  If you are looking for a good new spot for an evening out, I highly recommend Firefly.  I think it would be awesome for a small wedding reception or a rehearsal dinner too. (the look of the website doesn’t go with the reality of the place at all, and the pictures don’t do it justice)

While having dinner, we got to witness a speed dating event.  I’ve only seen this happen on tv before, and it was really interesting to observe.  Does this work?  Do people really meet someone there?  The participants we saw only got three minutes with each person.  Three Minutes!  That’s hardly enough time to cover name, occupation and whether this is your first speed dating event or not.

I was excited to hear from one of my brides that she bought a dress that was in my “The Dress” post a few weeks ago.  I’m so excited!  I love it when my brides update me on their plans as they develop.

The other night I came home and there were some trucks working on installing something in the church yard next to our house.  Turns out it was a Tornado Siren.  If there is a tornado in Franklin, we will be the first to know, quite literally.  I guess this is a good thing, as we previously didn’t have any of these, and there was a tornado this summer just a mile or two from us. Still, it was weird that they installed it at night, like they were trying to be sneaky about it.

I rented and watched Toy Story 3 while Hubby was gone last week.  It is fantastic – everything I expected.  No one but Pixar manages to pull of sequels in a way that they don’t feel like a sequel.

I REALLY want to go to the new Harry Potter movie, but I don’t have any fellow HP fans as friends that I know of to go with me.  Yes, I’m a geek sometimes about these things.  Hubby will likely have to make a sacrifice for this one and go with me.

If you haven’t checked it out already – both Hubby and myself are blogging over on the Blank My Walls blog.  Last Friday I started what will be a running debate about the nature of art.  Today I’ve posted one of my favorite modern art pieces and posed the question to you: “Is it Art?”.  We’d love to hear your comments!

Have a great week, and Happy Thanksgiving!
