The words. For Lanie & Rob’s day, it was all about the words. There were the words Rob labored over early that day, perfecting his vows. The words held back as sisters helped Lanie prepare, trying to keep their eyes from welling up. Words spoken by friends into the wind, to bring depth to a ceremony already full of it. Words whispered to an impish flower girl who flitted between her aunts and uncles with glee. Words spoken powerfully, tearfully, and with spirit amongst many speeches that flowed together in a roller coaster of love, adoration and tribute. When I think back on this simple and elegant wedding, it’s the words that spring to mind. Though it certainly was gorgeous, and had so many charming details that were created out of pure respect and love for this couple. Still, it is the words. So many that I’ll never forget. Most of all, Lanie’s vows: “I like that you keep things simple because I am someone who thinks too much.”
