Chicago Wedding Photographer | Elise & Dan | Engagement

They walked hand in hand down the sidewalk. Their clasped hands swung a bit and her heels made a soft clunk sound on the pavement. He turned and looked behind them at their apartment building. They crossed the street and he thought about how it had all begun with that stumbling first date. They walked past the loop station, weaving in and out of the commuters that intercepted them. The train roared overhead and drown out her account of the day at the office. It was there that they had awkwardly said goodbye so many times before they moved in together. Now it was their “home” station. They walked on, over a bridge that overlooked the river. They paused for a second to admire the homes that stood along its banks, marveling that such a spot existed in the middle of the city. She always said it reminded her how remarkable it was they found each other in a city full of so many. A few minutes later they were walking thru the quiet neighborhood they dreamed about. The one with the little iron fences enclosing the yards, with the brownstone homes, with kids playing on the sidewalk. The leaves went crunch, crunch under their feet, and she slipped her arm around his waist. It was here that they were moving towards – a nice, quiet, ‘young family’ neighborhood. They walked thru this neighborhood often, and he always kept an eye out for a “for sale” sign. She pulled him into the park – steering him towards a bench. They sat and breathed in the autumn air, the crispness that meant another season was coming. She twirled her engagement ring on her finger and leaned into his shoulder. Yes, this is where they were headed, that he was sure.
