An Invitation from Hubby
As some of you might know, Hubby works in Fireworks. In fact, he has as long as I’ve known him (and let’s just suffice it to say that is a looooong time). Hence, we are both hitting our busy seasons at the same time. It makes for a hectic home-life to say the least.
Under his wise-craking, rough and tumble, ‘vegas-baby’ exterior, Hubby has a huge heart. He is always the first one to jump to help someone, no matter what the need might be. I sometimes get selfish about his time and he is always quick to remind me that when someone needs help, we should help – because we would the same treatment in kind. It is one of the many reasons I love him.
Being that sort of soul, Hubby has been planning a spectacular cancer-fighting Community Cookout at his fireworks store this weekend. His co-manager was diagnosed with Lung Cancer last fall, and has been battling it ever since. It isn’t the kind of fight you can help a friend with much, unfortunately. But Hubby found his own way to join the army, so to speak. I’ll be off shooting a wedding in Green Lake (see before mentioned “busy season”) so unfortunately, I can’t be there to help support the cause. I’d love it if you would go in my stead, dear readers.
And so, an invitation to all of you, from Hubby:
On June 4, 2011 Phantom Fireworks is having our 1st Annual Community Cookout to Fight Cancer! I would like to invite everyone to come out and join in the fun! The cookout is from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, at Phantom Fireworks on the corner of I-94 and Hwy G, in Racine County.
A brat or hotdog meal, chips and beverage is yours for a $5 donation. There will also be a silent auction, bake sale and other fun activities.
The Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club’s Famous Racing SausagesTM will be making an appearance from 6-7pm and yes it is true, I have challenged them to a race if we raise enough money.
We will also be having a Fireworks Demo and Shoot from 9-10pm at Raymond Heights Family Golf Center just down the street from the store.
We are holding the cookout as a fundraising event to raise money for the American Cancer Society. All donations and funds will go directly to the American Cancer Society through our Phantom Phamily Relay For Life Team that is taking part in the Racine Relay June 10-11. We are doing this in support of longtime Phantom/Blackjack Fireworks Co-Manager Peter Spera. Peter was diagnosed with cancer early last fall and has been battling it ever since. He is doing well so far but his battle continues.
If you would like more information you can visit our facebook event page.
If you are interested in donating to our Relay For Life Team you can do so at: www.main.acsevents.org/goto/phantomphamily.
If I do have to race the sausages, I am worried I might lose! Come out and cheer me on. We hope to see you there!

If you know Hubby at all – you know the opportunity to see him race the Racing Sausages is worth the trip alone! I hope you can carve out a small portion of your Saturday to stop by – I, and Hubby will be so grateful!
***And you know, if you are a fireworks person – NOW is the time to buy your fireworks, before things get crazy. I can’t be more serious about this. Plus, the Fireworks demo at the end of the evening could give you some great ideas for your own show.***
